Fair Trade Egypt

Fair Trade Egypt (FTE) is a social enterprise, established in 1998 to provide marketing and development services todisadvantaged producers, with the objective of generating sustainable income to those artisans and hence preserving Egyptian crafts. FTE is the first Egyptian Fair Trade Organization member of the World Fair trade Organization (WFTO), since 2008.FTE is currently partnering with 43 artisan groups, which accounts to around 2,006 individual Egyptian artisans in 13 governorates 90% of whom are women. It enables these producers to sustain their crafts through the practices of Fair Trade which includes. It sells more than 1,400 high quality fairly traded handcrafted products in Egypt through its retail shops and internationally through export from these groups while providing them with the capacity building, technical assistance and product development they need to meet the local and global needs and quality standards.
