About the Role
- Surface Preparation:
Prepare composite surfaces by cleaning, sanding, priming, and masking to ensure proper adhesion of coatings. - Painting & Coating Application:
Apply paint, primers, or coatings to composite materials using spray guns, brushes, rollers, or other application methods. This includes ensuring uniform coverage, smooth finishes, and accurate color matching. - Inspection and Quality Control:
Inspect composite parts for defects, imperfections, or uneven coatings and correct issues as necessary. Verify that all work meets technical specifications and quality standards. - Mixing and Handling of Paints & Chemicals:
Mix and prepare paints and coatings according to specifications, including determining the appropriate ratios of components. Handle chemicals safely and follow environmental and safety guidelines. - Equipment Maintenance:
Maintain and clean painting equipment such as spray guns, mixing tools, and air compressors. Ensure that all equipment is in good working condition to minimize downtime and optimize work quality. - Documentation & Reporting:
Keep accurate records of paint formulations, work performed, and materials used. Report any issues or discrepancies to supervisors in a timely manner. - Health & Safety Compliance:
Follow all health and safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proper ventilation, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with environmental regulations. - Collaboration:
Work closely with other departments (e.g., engineering, production) to ensure that painting specifications and timelines are met.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical or vocational training in painting or coatings is preferred).
- Proven experience in painting or coatings application, particularly with composite materials.
- Familiarity with composite materials such as fiberglass, carbon fiber, and resin systems.
- Ability to operate and maintain spray guns, air compressors, and other painting equipment.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and precision.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental standards related to painting and coatings.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time effectively.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work within a team.
